국제 왁스조각 및 촛불축제_International Wax Sculpture

촛불축제는 꽤 오랜 전통을 가진 행사로 큰 초를 만들어 기름과 함께 승려들에게 바치는 종교적 행사이다. 하지만 이밖에도 다양한 행사가 펼쳐지는데 그 중에서도 가장 아름답게 조각한 초를 가리는 경연대회나 민속 의상을 입고 길을 따라 행진하며 공연하는 춤등이 볼거리이다.

아싸하 부차(Asalha Puja)에게 보시를 하고 카오 판사 불교의식이 열린다. 촛불 축제와 전세계인이 참여하는 국제 촛불 조각 경연대회의 환영식을 보고 관광객을 위해 특별히 준비된 토속음식 “파 카오 랭_Pha Khao Laeng”을 맛볼 수 있다.

JULY 1
19.00	Opening Ceremony of the 5th Thailand International Wax Sculpture
July 3 – 25	Visit the candle-making communities and artisan villages of Ubon Ratchathani province. Enjoy watching the artisans at work crafting their masterpieces.
	Other event highlights being staged throughout the month long celebration include a variety of entertainment, folk plays, a traditional open-air market, complete with food stalls presenting a perfect opportunity to savour the delicious local cuisine and learn more about the local culture, traditions and way of life.

Theme: WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD OF IMAGINATION JULY 1 – 10
July 1 – 10	Admire the magnificent creations of the 10 participating international artists
July 1 – 6	Enjoy the wonderful creations by Japanese candle-sculpting artists.

Theme: THE POWER OF YOUTH JULY 11 - 18
July 11 – 17	Join the workshop on preserving the legend and artistic tradition of Ubon Ratchathani At Srinakharinwirot University

Theme: DISCOVER THE TREASURE, EXPAND WISDOM JULY 19 - 27
July 18 – 25	Dhamma retreat at Ban Suan Ubon
July 19 - 25	Take part in the seminar and enjoy the old-style bazaar organized by Ubon Ratchathani University
July 19 – 27	Silpakorn University and Maha Sarakham University Art Camps

Theme: ENJOY THE WONDERFUL WAX CANDLE PROCESSION JULY 24 – 31
July 26 19.00	Night Procession Enjoy the magnificent candle procession as it proceeds along the city streets and Thung Sri Mueang park
July 27 08.00 – 12.00	Candle Procession through the city streets
July 28	Photo opportunity The winner of the contest will be making a special appearance. Fans and visitors to the event are invited to personally meet and congratulate the winner and cherish the memorable moment by taking photos with the winner.
July 31 19.00	Closing ceremony
